VEEC
was established in September 2002 to implement the City of Davis Comprehensive Energy
Efficiency Program. The all volunteer Board of Directors is composed of community
leaders who have an interest and dedication to energy efficiency. The program became
know as DEEP - the Davis Energy Efficiency Program. Its first home was the old city
hall building where the public was welcome to view the energy center displays and
materials. DEEP was followed by the Yolo Energy Efficiency Project (YEEP). By successfully
implementing these programs VEEC has brought to Yolo County residences and business
over $3.5 million in direct payments. The programs will save $10 million in reduced
electricity costs over the lifetime of the measures installed.
In 2005, VEEC began work on the Super Efficient Gas Water Heating Appliance Initiative
(SEGWHAI) funded by the California Energy Commission Public Interest Energy Research
(PIER) program. For more information on SEGWHAI, please visit http://www.segwhai.org.
