Valley Energy Efficiency Corporation
is a 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to energy conservation
through promotion of the latest technology.
We believe energy efficiency is a message
best told at the local level, where neighbor-to-neighbor messages
are heard best. And, where much change occurs through the
demonstration of leadership. Toward this end, our first major
project is the Davis Energy Efficiency Project (DEEP), run
by the City of Davis.
Our philosophy is simple - the market barriers to energy efficient
techonology are causing un-necessary environmental damage.
If everyone used the best available technologies (appliances,
heating and air, lighting, manufacturing, pumps, and renewable
power), there would be less demand for electricity and gas
- even in the face of economic growth.
The increasing demand for electricity
and gas causes the utility market to build dams, gas pipelines
through wetlands, and a political movement to revisit nuclear
power as a "clean" source of power.
Rather than extracting more fossil
fuels and degrading sensitive habitats, we believe American
society is ready to take advantage of the tremendous advances
in comfort-oriented technologies. Along with adopting a conservation-mindset
the full deployment of Energy Star and low-impact equipment
could have a dramatic affect on the amount of electricity
and gas needed.
